BIOGRAPHY

OF

DAWN M. JONES THOMAS, M.Ed 

Dawn M. Thomas started her career in diversity and inclusion management with Pope and Associates, one of the nation’s leading pioneers in diversity nearly 15 years ago. She has consulted with numerous companies on Diversity and Inclusion strategies including academia, health care, and Fortune 500 companies. Her knowledge of diversity best practices, human resources/ employee relations, conflict, facilitation, and mediation skills have been integral in setting the stage for organizational diversity initiatives and in moving them from verbal commitment to action. 

She has been a long standing proponent of dialogue and reconciliation not only in her professional endeavors, but also in the community as has been demonstrated through her involvement in the Dayton Dialogue on Race Relations and the Seasons for Non-Violence. 

Dawn’s undergraduate work in Special Education was completed at Wright State University. She earned a Master’s degree in Urban Literacy and Multicultural Education at Central State University. Her Master’s thesis, Unity in Diversity explored the dynamics of inclusion, curriculum diversity, learning style differences and the correlation to academic excellence. 

Prior to her career in Diversity management and Special Education, Thomas was the Acting Director for the Bolinga Cultural Center at Wright State University. In that capacity, she was responsible for providing leadership and oversight to minority student recruitment and retention, while enhancing the quality of campus life for African American students. 

Dawn and her husband Arthur are both champions for equal opportunity; have been married for 18 years; and have 2 children and 5 grandchildren.
